Ayurvedic Facial Massage
Welcome to my first blog!
A few years ago I did a day's Ayuverda training with an Indian Doctor who taught us about the doshas and Marma points, part of an ancient Indian medical system which I knew nothing about at the time. An Ayurvedic facial massage involves isolating the Marma points which are subtle vital energy centres located all over the face and body where two or more types of tissue meet. These points on the face are massaged to increase energy flow, the uptake of fresh Oxygen, blood and nutrients.
This facial was one of the treatments I was drawn to the most because it really made a difference to making the face look brighter and relaxed. It lifts the small muscles of the face by using deep but gentle massage techniques. In Ayurvedic medicine it is understood that our lifestyle and emotional or physical stresses can lead to imbalances and blockages within our mind and body.
We all hold tension and stress in the body and the face is no exception, and it's a mirror as to how we're feeling inside; happy, sad or down. This facial massage can help relieve, neuralgia, tired eyes, sinus congestion, tension headache and tightness in the jaw, caused by any daily stresses such as long hours looking at a computer screen, being a busy mum or caregiver.
This treatment could be part of a ‘Self Care’ routine which most of us forget to bring into our daily life and which I will talk about more in my next blog.
With love Christina x
